• Mar. 21- Dr. Chen was invited to be a Guest Editor for the journal EcoMat. EcoMat is a flagship open-access journal published by Wiley in collaboration with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which addresses the growing scientific interests and needs in developing eco-friendly and sustainable energy materials.

• Nov. 19 - Dr. Chen was identified to be one of the world’s most influential researchers by the Web of Science Group, and on the global list of The Highly Cited Researchers 2019 together with the other 11 faculty members from the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering. Dr. Chen was notified that he was the only person on the list who was not at a full professor level in the Engineering School.
